What do the following have in common:
1. Babysitting by a YMCA certified sitter
2. Homemade flan, a batch of macaroons and some lemon poppyseed cookies
3. 2 tickets to a preseason Titans game
4. chauffeur services in a 1966 Lincoln Continental convertible
5. 2 tickets to a Vanderbilt men's basketball game 2009-2010 season
These are some of the items that you can bid on at our Glendale auction next week, May 27.
We are asking Glendalers and friends to do a few things:
Join us for dinner on Wednesday, May 27 at 5:45 pm for an authentic Cuban meal. Reservations are required and the cost is $3.50 per person (call 269-0926 to make your reservation). Donations above and beyond your dinner cost will gladly be accepted for the youth trip to Cuba scheduled for June 2-9.
Support our auction by offering an item or service that can be auctioned. If you wish to donate an item, please bring it to the church youth room and attach a note to it with your name (unless of course you wish for your donation to remain anonymous) and contact information (address, phone number and email) and provide a brief, helpful description of the item so we can really get people excited about bidding on your item. We would love to have everything by May 24 so that we can promote the items in advance. For other items (like services or tickets), just email me with the information and we'll take it from there.
Stay around for the auction on May 27 and be prepared to bid on some very nice items and services!
Pray for the travel team that is preparing to leave for Cuba on June 2. Even if you are not able to participate in the fundraising efforts, most important to remember is that Glendale has been committed to a partnership with La Iglesia Bautista Alberto J. Diaz in Santa Clara for almost 10 years. Even though our churches are separated by government policies, geographical barriers and limited financial resources, we remain committed to each other in this partnership even when we can't physically be with one another. The opportunity to send a travel team is a rare opportunity for the words in our prayers, worship services, emails and letters to be manifest in hugs, smiles, fellowship, communion, baptism, singing and laughter. As Glendale's travel team, we will be ambassadors of this caring community of equality and grace and we are most honored by your support through your prayers, meditations and kind thoughts.
